SKINCARE brand Siabann produces luxury bath and body products which are handmade in Scotland.
Founded by entrepreneurs Fiona Ritchie (right) and Sue Price when the pair joined forces to create the Ochil Skincare Company in 2015, the company now boasts two brands, Siabann and Beàrr Man.
Despite only recently coming to market, the initial Siabann concept was born almost 10 years ago out of Ritchie’s desire to create natural, homemade soaps. Unhappy with using products which contained chemicals and parabens on her young children, her journey originally began making natural, kind-to-skin soaps at home.
Later, under the Ochil Skincare Company, Ritchie moved the blending process from her home to a fully fledged soap and skincare kitchen in Alloa, Clackmannanshire.
The name Siabann pays homage to its Scottish roots, coming from the Gaelic word for soap. Each product in the range is 100 per cent natural and free from palm oil, parabens, animal testing and chemicals. The handmade blends are produced in small batches to ensure the highest quality The current bath and body collection includes luxurious products such as body butter, bath oil, liquid handwash and facial serum. Using butters and essential oils, each product is carefully designed to cleanse, rejuvenate and nourish the skin. Further celebrating the brand’s Scottish heritage, products also contain thistle oil.
Siabann also offers a skin candle which comes presented in a beautiful tin and burns to create a pool of warm oil. The oil, which never gets hotter than body temperature, can then be poured on to the skin for a massage.
The warm oils from the candle are designed to nourish and absorb easily and can be used to treat dry skin or for a luxurious treat. Offering great value for money, the candle allows for two full body massages or lots of small ones.
Having been so well received as a bath and body brand, Siabann recently expanded into men’s skincare with Beàrr Man.
Launched in December 2016, Beàrr Man (beàrr is Gaelic for shave) continues to channel the Scottish roots of Siabann, with thistle oil at the heart of the range.
Developed specifically for the male skin, the simple but effective range caters to soothe even the most sensitive types.
The Beàrr Man collection includes a moisturising handmade shaving soap, body wash laden with essential oil, aloe vera and thistle oil lotion as well as a balm for all-over soothing.
Both Siabann and Beàrr Man products are available online or in selected stockists.
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
Callum Baird, Editor of The National
