CHAMPAGNE breakfasts are no longer the preserve of humans, thanks to Aberdeen’s doggy deli van.

Located on Riverside Drive every weeknight from 4pm to 8pm, the van provides fine dining for pampered pets in Aberdeen.

Sandra Wilson, manager of K9 Health Centre and Happy Howlers Deli, was inspired to implement her barking mad idea after learning of a business selling frozen yoghurt for dogs which was concerned about the adverse health effects that ice-cream consumption can have of them.

Visitors keen to spoil their pets can tickle their dog’s taste buds with a huge variety of luxury snacks and beverages. With Wilson keen to maintain the well-being of the animals at every turn, all of the products are homemade and catered to the specific dietary requirements of dogs.

She explained: “We have a large range of healthy deli treats, dried food plus herbal tea, wine and beer. We also have fresh no preservatives bakery goods baked every day.”

Aside from providing local pooches with a taste for the finer things in life, the doggy deli service provides invaluable nutritional advice for owners, delivered by those with animal expertise.

“All staff are trained in the products we sell and we have weight clinics and nutritional trained staff who attend. We also recommend your local vets, who offer free weight clinics and advice”, Wilson said.

She added that the public reception to the project has been “very supportive” with positive feedback at every turn.

Such is the success of the doggy deli that the venture has already expanded, parking its pooch products at several regional events already this year, with more planned over the festive period.

Wilson continued: “We already visit local agricultural and village shows over the summer and Santa Paws will be out with our Christmas Range from November’s first week “As well as offering free delivery pet products locally in Aberdeen and Forfar, the business also runs an outdoor cafe and deli at Lochlands Mill, Forfar.”
