A penguin plays Spud to the giant panda's Renton in the zoo's version of the Princes Street chase
A GIANT panda runs full tilt along Edinburgh’s Princes Street accompanied by a larger-than-life penguin in a hilarious YouTube video that pays homage to one of the most iconic opening scenes in modern cinema, featuring Trainspotting’s Renton and his hapless sidekick Spud.
Edinburgh Zoo has recreated the Choose Life scene that began Danny Boyle’s 1996 cult classic, with panda and penguin mascots reprising the famous sprint.
The release of the 40-second video marks the launch of the new T2 Trainspotting movie release on DVD as well as the closing weekend of the Edinburgh International Film Festival.
