THE National Roadshow’s next stop is the medieval city of Stirling, the Gateway to the Highlands, before heading for Airdrie and Dalkeith on our travels next month.
On Wednesday, we will be joining the Yes Stirling team yet again in the precinct during the day. At night Yes Stirling, in conjunction with The National, will be hosting an event in the Smith Art Gallery and Museum, featuring Scottish Independence Convention vice-convenors Lesley Riddoch and Richard Walker.
The National will be running a special Stirling edition next Thursday so we want to hear from our readers beforehand and on the day about the issues that matter to you. We also invite you to join us, free of charge and no ticket required, at the evening event from 7.30pm – 9.30pm as it promises to be an entertaining night while our consultant editor Richard quizzes Lesley on the big political stories, streamed live on our website.
On May 2, we will be joining Airdrieonians for Independence and on May 9, we will join the Dalkeith and District SNP branch.
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
Callum Baird, Editor of The National
