STUDENTS celebrated the 70th anniversary of the first undergraduate fashion show at Glasgow School of Art yesterday.

Third year learners presented collections inspired by the last 70 years in a commemorative showcase, with pieces influenced by changes in society, politics, science and technology.

Others drew from film, art, literature and music.

Guest models took to the catwalk, including 70-year-old Norman Sutton-Hibbert, a masters graduate, and Jill Gibson, who helped run the show in 1985.

Helen Marriott, the current head of silversmithing and jewellery, also took part.

The event was held just two months before the third anniversary of the fire that devastated the college’s Mackintosh building in 2014.

Restoration efforts continue.
