A MEMORIAL service for families in Lanarkshire affected by the trauma of stillbirth will take place next Saturday, March 4.

NHS Lanarkshire’s maternity and neonatal annual memorial service, which is led by the spiritual care team, will begin at 1pm in the sanctuary on level one at Wishaw General Hospital.

Elaine Hamilton, bereavement specialist midwife, said: “The memorial service provides the opportunity for parents, relatives, friends and care-givers to come together to remember babies who have been sadly lost through miscarriage, stillbirth and neonatal death.

“Anyone affected by the loss of a baby, whether that is in recent times or in years gone by, is welcome to attend.”

A Miscarriage Support Group meets at the hospital on the first Monday of the month from 7pm to 9pm in the quiet room of the spiritual care department.

The Lanarkshire branch of Sands, the Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Support charity, meets on the second Monday of the month between 7.30pm and 9.30pm in the Ronald Miller Education and Training Centre.
