PUPILS from Aviemore Primary School have teamed up with Scottish author Jo Hall to write a joint story for Twitter.

Along with teacher Cara Dallas, the primary one pupils have been writing about space aliens visiting the school.

Hall said yesterday that she had had a great time visiting the school last week. “Mrs Dallas’s class had been writing on Twitter with me all week and we created a story called Learning is Fun, which is all about what happens when three aliens visit their school," she said.

"On the day I visited, we finished off the story together.”

Hall said the children’s imaginations were “amazing” and that they were always coming up with new and exciting ideas.

She read to them from her book JoJo Gnome and The Sound Machine, the first in a series about the Scottish gnome. They were then treated to a screening of the animated film JoJo Gnome and the Cake Contest.

"Primary one still had enough creative juice flowing at the end of our session to do some cake animations of their own," she said.

Hall is to take part in two Easter- themed storytelling sessions at Mugdock Country Park near Glasgow on Saturday, April 15, when there will be storytelling, quizzes and other activities.

As well as writing and illustrating books, she has television credits that include Balamory, Nina and the Neurons and also Me Too all for Cbeebies and she has also written radio drama for schools.

She comes up with many of her ideas in her greenhouse – although there are no gnomes in residence in her garden.
