T IN THE PARK organisers DF Concerts unveiled a little more detail of their Glasgow festival yesterday.

A cryptic advertising campaign introduced the world to TRNSMT, coming to Glasgow Green on July 7-9.

DF have seemingly removed the vowels from their event’s name to avoid confusion with the Transmit festival in Los Angeles.

Featuring an old-style test-card, there was little more detail about who would play.

But there was also some confusion. Previously, a source close to DF had told the Daily Record that Radiohead were definitely playing on the Friday, saying: “Radiohead are the ultimate headliner for any festival. They’re one of the most exciting acts on the planet.”

But last week when Radiohead put out a list of tour dates for June and July, there was no mention of Glasgow.

When The National asked Radiohead’s management if the band were playing, they replied: “No comment.”

DF also declined to respond to requests for a comment.

There were reports Coldplay had also been approached.

It is understood the new festival wants to attract an older crowd, and to avoid issues related to on-site camping.

Last year’s T in the Park was mired in controversy with three deaths, 429 recorded crimes and 54 arrests.

Organisers announced a break late last year: “For over 23 years, T in the Park has been at the heart of Scotland’s music scene – with you, by our side. But for now, sadly, we need to take a break.

“We launched T in the Park with one aim: to give Scottish music fans an unforgettable weekend with their friends, enjoying the best acts from around the globe.

“And to say we achieved this together is an understatement.

“We created more than just a festival; we created a family and decades of wonderful memories.”

Glasgow Green has played host to many artists including The Strokes, Pulp, The Stone Roses and Primal Scream.
