THE pro-independence terrier Mr Malky, who many Yes activists will know from Twitter, has sadly passed away.

Cat Williams, his owner, said: “He had a great life and taught me a lot about persistence and determination.

“His terrier determination inspired my tweets for indy. He would never give up. Never.

“He came out canvassing for Yes, went on Indy marches, had his fave seat in the Yes bar and could get away with being a fairly cheeky cybernat with just a cute pic.

“He was 17 and has been tweeting for indy since 2009.

“I reckon that Mr Malky will probably live on in Twitter. Like I said. He would never give up.”

Malky was named after the Stephen Mulrine poem The Coming of the Wee Malkies, and Cat believes that the terrier spirit, of never giving up or letting go, was “the spirit of Indy”.

He was laid to rest at his favourite spot in Lenabo Forest in Aberdeenshire.
