POLICE Scotland were investigating yesterday after material denying the Holocaust was distributed in and around a Scottish university.

The incident happened earlier this week as the Jewish holiday of Passover was about to begin.

Posters pinned on bulletin boards at Edinburgh University and leaflets found in buildings and cars in and around the campus called the WWII atrocity “the greatest swindle of all time” and urged the public to visit a website for “facts” about the subject.

It also contained dismissals of accounts of Hitler’s anti-Semitic “final solution”.

The material was removed and reported to the authorities while Imogen Wilson of the Edinburgh University Students Association branded it “horrific”.

As Passover began yesterday, Police Scotland said: “Police in Edinburgh have been made aware of concerns regarding a communication displayed in the University of Edinburgh and surrounding areas and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding this.”
