PREPARE to spring forward with some timely help from watch and design enthusiasts Alan and Kelsey Moore, whose store Twisted Time provides customers with beautifully designed timepieces.

Launched in 2010, Twisted Time instantly distinguished itself as the first watch boutique to specialise in design-focused watches from-up-and coming brands and designers.

Husband and wife Alan and Kelsey, who started up the business together, came from very different backgrounds.

At the age of 18 Alan moved from rural Northern Ireland to Glasgow where he studied business management at Glasgow Caledonian. It was then that he took a web design module and his passion for the web was born. After university Alan travelled through the US and Canada and working in Vancouver, Canada where he met his now wife Kelsey, who at the time was a freelance makeup artist.

In 2007 job opportunities took Kelsey and Alan to the Caribbean and during this time Alan further pursued his passion for the web, studying web application development with the Open University in his spare time.

With Alan’s new skills, Kelsey’s experience of the fashion industry and their shared love of watches, Twisted Time was born. Finally returning to Glasgow in February 2010, everything was in place and the site was launched within weeks.

The unique concept behind Twisted Time came from the duo’s desire to offer a carefully selected collection of modern designer watches, representing brands that have to stand out from the crowd.

Alan and Kelsey share their insight on key elements they look for when selecting designers, adding: “Some of the elements we consider when choosing new brands are design, quality and uniqueness. We keep an eye out for small up-and-coming independent brands that aren’t widely available.”

In addition to stocking various brands such as Olivia Burton, Bulbul and Chi and Chi, Twisted Time recently launched their own line of watches under the name Nomad.

Designed to be a contemporary watch brand which cares about the small details, Nomad places value in true craftsmanship.

Working with Samuel Wilkinson to achieve the minimalist silhouette, the Mòlltair’s clutter-free face features considered colour combinations and is housed in a textured, custom stainless steel casing. For die-hard watch enthusiasts, Nomad is definitely worth a look.

Twisted Time won online retailer of the Year at the 2015 Herald Fashion Awards as well as being listed as trailblazers in the WatchPro Hot 100 2015.

Despite the company’s string of successes, the personal touch has not been lost. Alan and Kelsey still personally review potential brands, selecting only the best watches.
