JUST for our readers, we're giving exclusive access to Mairearad's new folk album "Summer Isles".

Having grown up in the Scottish Highlands and performed in various folk bands, The Summer Isles and the folk tradition are deeply rooted in Mairearad Green’s composition.

Mairearad (piano, accordion, bag pipes, vocals) is joined by a number of guest musicians including legendary singer/ songwriter King Creosote, Hector McInnes (vocals), Ross Saunders (bass), Scott MacKay (drums), Jo Nicolson (clarinet), Pat McGarvey (banjo), Mike Vass (fiddle), and Annie Grace, Jeana Leslie and Hamish Napier (backing vocals). Combining each musicians’ stylistic background, producer Iain Hutchinson has created a refined and inventive sound that faultlessly captures Mairearad’s vision.

Mairearad said: "Working on Summer Isles has been the most enjoyable and rewarding projects for me in a long time. From the writing stage at home in the Highlands to learning so much in the studio whilst recording it and then to translate this to a live gig with some of my favourite musicians - I've been on a complete high with it for the last year and I couldn't be happier with the final sound!”

Mairearad is currently touring the UK playing her new album, and will be playing at the Hug and Pint  in Glasgow on the 29th of June.

Her new album is available now.
