SCOTTISH cult sketch show Absolutely will be back on air with their first series in 22 years. Four episodes of the late night Channel 4 hit from the 90s will be recorded in Glasgow next month for BBC Radio 4. The original cast of Gordon Kennedy, Morwenna Banks, Peter Baikie, Moray Hunter and John Spark will reunite for the show. Characters from the show including Calum Gilhooley, Denzil and Gwynedd, The Little Girl and the Stoneybridge Town Council, will all make an appearance. The return to the air follows a one show recorded for the BBC’s Sketchorama show in 2013. Executive producer Gus Beattie said: ‘The Absolutely team did an amazing job updating their much-loved characters for the Sketchorama show, so I’m delighted to be involved in bringing a brand new Absolutely series to Radio 4.’ The predominantly Scottish group told comedy website Chortle, the new series would include, “something old (us), something new (the sketches), nothing borrowed (as far as we know) and nothing blue (although some of it is quite surprisingly rude)”. Absolutely ran for 28 episodes and four series on Channel 4 between 1989 and 1993. Radio recordings tickets are available at tickets@comedyunit.co.uk
