A CROWD-funding campaign has been launched to support a new comedy zombie film in Scotland and the north-east of England.

Stars signed up include Helen Lederer, Patrick Bergin, Danniella Westbrook and Jimmy Vee. Other members of the cast are Vivien Taylor, Antony Costa and Andrew McIntosh of Scot Squad.

The Indiegogo crowd-funding campaign for Trainset was launched yesterday and shooting is due to begin in October.

North-east casting director/producer Barbara French has teamed up with director/writer Rob Burrows and screenwriters James McCreadie and Debbie May.

“The script is extremely funny, it made me laugh out loud,” said French. “It’s full of crazy characters.”

French recently worked with Burrows on Transition starring Rachel Teate (known for Wolfblood and The Water Boatman).

Burrows has previously written screenplays for three feature films – Dead Frequency, Entwinement and Flowerman.

Flowerman, also directed by Burrows, received Best Original Screenplay, Best Feature Film and Best Director nominations at the Milan International Film Festival in 2015 and won Best Director and Best Support Actress at the Tenerife International Film Festival in 2015 where it was also nominated as Best Film. McCreadie and May have written for TV shows such as Doctors, Fair City and River City. Their first feature film Fast Romance won a Cineworld Audience Award.

Patrick Bergin’s films include Patriot Games, Sleeping With The Enemy and Lawnmower Man 2: Beyond Cyberspace.
