Building Britain’s Canals, Channel 5, 8pm
DAN Jones examines Britain’s most iconic waterways, beginning with the 152-mile Grand Union Canal. It was built at the height of the Industrial Revolution and was a task that pushed to the limits even the greatest engineering minds of the time. They included pioneers such as James Brindley, the man behind Britain’s first commercial canal, and William Jessop, one of the people responsible for creating the link between Birmingham and London.

Lethal Weapon, STV, 9pm
THE sound of wedding bells and police sirens combine as Riggs and Murtaugh attend Leo Getz’s surprise wedding, with Murtaugh as best man. However, the duo soon find themselves at the heart of the action when fiancee Nina disappears at a key moment, with a very large sum of money apparently in her possession.

Cruising with Jane McDonald, Channel 5, 9pm
YOU could have heard a few jaws hit the floor when this series won a Bafta a few weeks ago. As a rule of thumb, not many Channel 5 documentaries take home gongs from the British Academy. In fact none did until this year. However, the fun mix of travelogue, celebrity banter and easy-on-the-eye locations won over the masses and a few critics. In the second of a two-parter, we see what happened when McDonald explored the wonders of Australia and New Zealand.

Tracey Breaks the News, BBC 1, 9.40pm
TRACEY Ullman’s short-lived series draws to a close and lined up in her comedy crosshairs are Jeremy Corbyn, Rupert Murdoch, wife Jerry, Angela Merkel, Theresa May, Michael Gove and Jacob Rees-Mogg. She has solid support from the likes of Ben Miller and Liam Hourican.

Dale Winton’s Florida Fly Drive, Channel 5, 10pm
A CHANCE to see the much-missed presenter begin the second leg of his 1500-mile journey in Miami, at Casa Casuarina, the boutique hotel that was Gianni Versace’s home until his death in 1997. The fashion designer’s influence is visible throughout, from leopard-print cushions to the swimming pool made out of 24-carat-gold tiles.
