GARY Imlach and Lucy Martin present the opening stages of the women’s and men’s races. The riders get going in Beverley before proceeding to the seaside resort of Hornsea. The peloton will then head into the Yorkshire Wolds for the first classified climb at Baggaby Hill, before a brisk descent into Pocklington for the opening sprint. After passing through Holme-on-Spalding Moor, the pace will gradually ramp up again for a second sprint in Howden and then it’s full steam into Doncaster on the newly opened Great Yorkshire Way.
True Horror, Channel 4, 10pm
THE horror anthology presents Terror in the Woods, the tale of two prank-obsessed teenagers, Todd and Stephen, who dare each other to spend the night in an apparently haunted wood near Horsham, rumoured to be the site of mass graves. Pitching their tents in the nearby church, they find themselves surrounded by frightening noises and apparitions, but somehow manage to see the night out. However, a week later one of the lads becomes convinced that something has followed him home.
Britain in Bloom, BBC 2, 6.30pm
A GROUP of grandparents are taking on big businesses in Goring on Thames in the hope of winning a Gold award. Their aim is to transform the local train station, a utilitarian and uninviting space, but to do so they must gain the permission of the train company that runs it. They also want to “green up” the pathway from the car park to the high street, before filling the village centre with hanging baskets and troughs. Can they get the necessary paperwork signed to make their dream a reality?
Ambulance, BBC 1, 9pm
DOCUMENTARY about the work of the ambulance service, covering two shifts with the paramedics and call centre workers. A weekend night shift proves busy for the specialist trauma team, as Matt and Ian attend a series of incidents, from the stabbing of a 15-year-old to two shootings. Ozzie and Matt rehearse CPR on their way to treat a four-day-old baby who is not breathing, and Chloe and Katie offer support to a victim of domestic abuse who tried to kill herself.
