MANY people wonder what it would be like to escape the rat race and begin a new life, but can the reality live up to the dream? Two millennials find out as they quit their current careers and leave friends and families behind to take up different jobs. For Katie, that means swapping distributing music videos in London for a new job on a horse ranch set in 550,000 wild acres of Mexico. She knows relatively little about horses and hasn’t ridden since her teens, but can she pass her month-long probation? Meanwhile, Charlie exits a Brighton call centre to become a salmon farmer on a remote Scottish loch, but it’s not long before he’s questioning his decision.

Top of the Shop with Tom Kerridge, BBC2, 8pm

NEW series. Four food producers with fledgling businesses test out their products on the locals in Malhamdale in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales. They have two days in the shop to promote and sell their wares. This time it’s makers of preserves, pickles and spreads battling it out for a place in the final. Tom Kerridge meets members of the community as they try the unusual preserves. Meanwhile, judges Alison Swan Parente and Nisha Katona visit the food producers at home.

Class of Mum and Dad, C4, 8pm

THE pupils have settled into their term at Blackrod primary, but a few members of class 6M are testing the boundaries. Jonny admits he likes trouble, disregarding the uniform regulations and not doing his homework, resulting in him being sent to the head teacher’s office. The oldest of the class, grandad Bill, 70, looks after his grandchildren each week with his wife. He is determined to do well so he can help with their homework.

JOHN Prescott continues on his voyage of discovery into the heart of Yorkshire, and the factories making some of the regions’ most well-known foods on a massive scale. He begins at Wensleydale Creamery in Hawes, which makes more than 4000 tons of cheese a year, before moving to Leeming Bar to visit North Yorkshire’s largest pork pie factory. There, he tries to keep up with long-standing employees on the factory floor, making and baking pies and injecting the all-important jelly.
