Ready or Not, BBC1, 6pm
SOME TV quiz contestants spend weeks swotting up before their appearance, only to find their minds go completely blank under the glare of the studio lights. How would they perform if they were taken by surprise if they were out shopping or in a restaurant? That’s the idea behind BBC1’s new teatime entertainment show, Ready or Not, narrated by Paddy McGuinness. If people can get over the shock and collect their wits, there’s £1000 up for grabs.

The Voice UK, STV, 8.30pm
IT’S the live semi-final of the singing contest, with the eight remaining contestants competing to win one of the four places in next week’s grand finale. For the first time in the series, the viewing public’s votes will decide who will go through. It’s a tense time with half of the acts moving one step closer to winning a recording contract with Polydor Records, and the other half leaving the show.

Below the Surface, BBC4, 9pm
THE Danish noir thriller revolving around an act of terrorism on the Copenhagen Metro comes to a thrilling conclusion. Terror Task Force head Philip is shocked to learn who is behind the hostage crisis and how they connect to his past. In the second part of a double bill, Philip heads into the tunnels on a mission to free the last hostages.

Hamlet, BBC2, 9pm
DIRECTOR Robert Icke’s critically acclaimed production of the Shakespeare play, which had a sell-out run at the Almeida Theatre in London before transferring to the West End, is now about to reach an even wider audience as it’s broadcast on BBC Two. The critics have called it “heartbreakingly beautiful”, now TV viewers have a chance to see if it lives up to the hype.
