CHIC’S Nile Rodgers says his second cancer diagnosis was more “peaceful” because he had already experienced the disease.

The 65-year-old announced his prognosis as “100 per cent recovery” in December after having a growth removed from his kidney. The disco icon overcame prostate cancer in 2010.

Rodgers said: “It was much more peaceful than I had the first time around. I remembered all the therapy and all the things I had to go to where I was the first time.

“But I survived it so I just thought the second time, regardless of what I would have to go through my mindset, was to survive it.”

Chic have signed up to appear at a Teenage Cancer Trust fundraising gig at the Royal Albert Hall in London on March 21.

They are also due back in Glasgow for the Fiesta x Fold festival in Kelvingrove Park on June 30 and July 1, having played at the West End Fiesta last year.
