FOCUSING on the relationships between animals and people living in some of the world’s most extraordinary natural wonders, this episode follows nomadic people from the Yamal Peninsula in northern Siberia, as they hunt one of the very few animals that can survive in this frozen environment, reindeer. Elsewhere, cameras observe a local ranger in the coastal salt marshes of Northern Australia’s Arnhem Land, as he goes in search of the eggs of one of the world’s most aggressive predators, the saltwater crocodile.

The Day When Churchill Chose War, Yesterday, 8pm

A NEW series exploring how key decisions by national leaders changed the course of history during the 20th century begins with a subject that will seem familiar to anyone who has seen the recent Oscar-nominated movie Darkest Hour. It focuses on 28 May, 1940, when, in the wake of crushing Allied defeats in France, British officials were considering a negotiated peace with Hitler –there were even suggestions that Mussolini could act as a mediator. Using archive footage and dramatisations, this documentary shows how Winston Churchill convinced the War Cabinet to continue fighting.

Undercover: Nailing the Fraudster, Channel 5, 10pm

To kick-off his new six-part series, Paul Connolly investigates one of Britain’s fastest-growing scams. “Phishing” is the term for when the fraudster pretends to be your bank, mobile phone or internet provider or even the police, in order to get you to hand over your personal details. Then, the perpetrator empties out your bank account. As part of his investigation, Connolly reveals the gang who stole £113 million over three years.
