The Hairy Bikers’ Mediterranean Adventure, BBC 2, 8pm
FOR the fifth leg of their journey through the Med, Si King and Dave Myers sample some of the best food and drink on offer in the Balearics. They reveal how mayonnaise was invented in Minorca’s capital of Mahon and sample some Minorcan gin. Recipes include cuttlefish stew and squid salad with mayonnaise, sea bass a la mallorquina and saffron potato puree, and fish and chips in gin and tonic batter.

Animals with Cameras, BBC 1, 8pm
NEW series. Scottish wildlife cameraman Gordon Buchanan presents this documentary in which he joins with scientists to attach cameras to animals, hoping to make new discoveries about various species. In the Kalahari Desert, it allows them to finally understand what meerkats get up to underground, revealing their sleeping habits and the behaviour of one-day-old newborns. In Cameroon, an orphaned chimp’s onboard camera reveals whether it has the climbing skills necessary to join a wild family, and in Argentina, scientists see close-up the tactics used by penguins to catch their prey.

Death in Paradise, BBC 1, 9pm
IT seems somebody has taken the island’s Day of the Dead celebrations a little too literally when a man receives a voicemail from his wife saying she is being attacked. When she turns up dead, suspicion falls upon her friends and acquaintances at the nearby yacht club – her husband Finn, club secretary Charlotte and chairman Hugh.

IT’S July 12 and the Quinn family are rushing to get out of town before the Orange Parades start. They are packed and nearly ready to go when James, Michelle and Clare arrive as unexpected members of the escape party.
