A NEW children’s picture book that introduces its readers to environmentalism, empowerment, inventing and science through use of “amazing alliteration and sensational silliness” is to be launched.

Marvellous Machines and Mini Mimi is written by Ali Currie and is being released in association with independent Scottish publisher Hoolet Publishing.

It is the publisher’s second children’s book after they released The Kelvinhill Kids Visit The Kelpies in September.

The launch will take place on Sunday at Glasgow Science Centre at 2pm, where Currie will unveil the new book during a storytelling event.

Ahead of Sunday’s event, Currie said: “I’m looking forward to introducing the world of Marvellous Machines and Mini Mimi to the young visitors of Glasgow Science Centre.

“The book is great fun to read to younger children, with its amazing alliteration and sensational silliness, but it is even better for challenging confident early readers – so I hope they all enjoy it.”

Jamie Szymkowiak, co-founder of Hoolet Publishing, added: “Hoolet Publishing is excited to be partnering with Glasgow Science Centre for this event.

“We are keen to showcase the talents of new authors which is why we’re particularly delighted to release Ali Currie’s fantastic tale of Marvellous Machines and Mini Mimi.

“There’s no better place to bring a story of invention and science alive than the Glasgow Science Centre.”
