TWO special one-off events are worthy additions to your diary, the first of which sees Subculture resident wunderkind Telford curating a full-length score to accompany a live fly-through of space.

Produced in collaboration with Sub Club record label Nautilus Rising and taking place in the dome of the Planetarium at Glasgow's Science Centre this Saturday evening, The Planetarium Part 2 with Telford promises to be an unique, immersive experience not to miss, combining Telford's score with images of our planet and the galaxy beyond.

Tickets for the 10pm performance sold out almost immediately, though there's a newly-added performance at 9pm. After these gigs, Telford will hot foot it back to the Sub Club for Subculture where Planetarium ticket-holders can dance all night long.

Saturday, Glasgow Science Centre, 9pm, £15 plus booking fee. Tickets: bit.ly/PlanetariumTelfordtix

The National:

WERE it not for Summerhall’s excellent Nothing Ever Happens Here programme, you’d be hard-pressed to find much in the way of contemporary live music at the Fringe these days.

As Olaf Furniss, founder of community interest music events company Born To Be Wide, notes, Edinburgh’s live music scene faces a double-whammy. Already in poor health due to recent venue closures, bookers often programme comedy acts rather than live music in August. These issues will be discussed at a special free evening event at Summerhall on August 9 co-hosted by Made in Adelaide and Arts South Australia.

Festival directors from Edinburgh and Australia will explore how their events can help foster music talent rather than crowd them out, and the night will offer opportunities for artists, promoters, labels and others working in the industry to strengthen ties with their Australian counterparts.

Open to everyone, the panel discussion will be followed by a food and drink reception from South Australia and live performances by enigmatic chanteuse MANE, roots trio Wanderers and Carla Lippis, a must for fans of Calexico’s TexMex alt country.

August 9, Summerhall, Edinburgh, 6.15pm, free but ticketed. Tickets: bit.ly/BornToBeAdelaideTickets
