PRESIDENT TRUMP – THE INAUGURATION, BBC1/ITV, 4pm

I’VE never watched an inauguration before. Why would I? A new politician, just the same as the last politician, gives speeches and there’s a bit of a ceremony and patriotism thrown in.

This time, obviously, it’s different. This time there’s a duty to watch because Trump needs scrutiny like no other. There’s also the lure of how anarchic, absurd, rude and immature he is which, quite simply, promises to make some great television.

We know his staff have been sending begging letters out in the hope that a singer, any singer, will agree to perform. Obama had songs from Aretha Franklin and Beyonce, and Bill Clinton had Michael Jackson and Elton John at his gala. CNN reports Trump will have The Mormon Tabernacle Choir. It seems every big artist is snubbing Trump, although he tweeted he doesn’t want nasty old celebrities anyway: “I want the PEOPLE!” And we know his tweets are always 100 per cent truthful.

BEST WALKS WITH A VIEW, STV, 8pm
I’VE chosen this as the presenter, Julia Bradbury, leads us on a soothing, peaceful walk around Loch Lomond. The scenery might ease any panic you felt after watching Trump’s inauguration.
It’s our largest loch in terms of surface area so there’s plenty of ground to be covered. She starts off at the Glengoyne Distillery where she has a dram to warm her up for the walk. “You’ll be skipping!” the staff tell her.
She then heads for Milarrochy Bay and into the village of Balmaha where she takes a boat trip across to Inchcailloch to explore its secluded beaches and take in views of Ben Lomond.
This walk is a fairly short one, so it’s not impossible for those watching cosy on the couch to consider trying it at the weekend.
However, you will need to endure Bradury referring to LOCK Lomond all through the show.
