EDINBURGH’S widely loved accessories and jewellery store, Covet, has expanded its offerings by launching its very own line of luxury handbags.
Founded in 2007 by best friends Anna Somerville and Blaise Donald, Covet was born on Edinburgh’s highly respected Thistle Street. To this day, the store remains on the same site.
An instant success, Covet quickly established itself as Edinburgh’s go-to location for beautiful accessories and jewellery.
The store also gained attention from respected names within the fashion industry. In 2014 Covet received an award for “Best Accessories Offer in an Independent” from Drapers magazine. The store has also been recommended by Grazia, who listed Covet as one of the top 10 things to do in Edinburgh.
Somerville and Donald pride themselves on their ability to source high-quality brands from international backgrounds, stocking labels such as Becksondergaard, Coccinelle and Dyrberg/Kern.
In addition to stocking labels customers love, the store supports up-and-coming designers as well as accessories which come directly from designer ateliers.
Adding a unique touch, the store offers the same personal service to customers online as they do in store. Customers are encouraged to contact Covet to discuss items of interest.
In 2016, Somerville and Donald decided to take their brand to the next level with the launch of their very own label of luxury handbags.
Having spent eight years conducting market research and taking countless trips to accessories trade fairs in fashion capitals such as Milan and Paris, the best friends felt qualified to create and introduce a highly-desirable handbag range to the UK marketplace.
“After listening to our customers tell us what they want, we have created a capsule collection of beautiful, quality, luxury handbags at an affordable price, which we hope they will love.”
Incorporating a sense of luxury both in design and behind the scenes, the accessories are designed in Edinburgh and handcrafted in Spain using the finest Italian leathers.
The label’s first collection, entitled Opulent, is characterised by simple lines, beautiful yet timeless design and high-quality craftsmanship.
Focusing on offering great versatility, the range includes handbags which can be worn as clutches, shoulder bags or satchels.
Seeking to add effortless sophistication to any outfit, the collection takes inspiration from precious metals and rich jewel colours such as copper and amethyst metallic.
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
