COMPOSER James MacMillan is to compose a new choral work to mark the reopening of the fire-ravaged Glasgow School of Art.

The piece will be premiered at the famous Mackintosh Building once work to repair the site is completed.

The Glasgow School of Art choir will perform the work. £4,000 has been awarded by Creative Scotland to fund the work.

Lyrics have been taken from a poem written by former Glasgow School of Art director Fra Newbery which is held in the college archives.

The work will begin this summer and is due to be completed by 2018.
