IT was shocking to observe copies of the most recent white paper being thrown to MPs from the floor of the House of Commons even after the brand new Secretary of State for Exiting the EU rose to defend it. That is the state of the purported democracy of this alleged Union.

One of the noisy issues raised by the Brexiteers is the role of the European Court of Justice, and they are appalled that it may interfere with their rights under Magna Carta. Aye, well. Scots should be well aware of such dangers. Firstly, Magna Carta has no relevance in Scots Law (we did not need it). Secondly, the Act of Union of 1707 specifically guaranteed the preservation of Scots Law and it took just one year to breach its terms by allowing civil appeals to the House of Lords, a burden which incapacitated the development of our civil law until the re-establishment of our parliament. This progress was constitutionally undermined by the establishment of the UK Supreme Court, interceding between Scots and European Law.

As Donald Trump struts his way round Turnberry, undermining Mrs May on behalf of his pal Boris, we could take a moment to reflect that it was monumental stupidity, ignorance and contempt at Westminster which provoked other colonists to seize their independence just 70-odd years after we allowed “a parcel o rogues” to surrender ours. The monumental stupidity, ignorance and contempt bides with us yet, allied with cupidity.

In this perilous era it is high time that we rid ourselves of our subservience to these incompetents and restore our parliament to its full administration of the will of our sovereign people.

TORY handling of Brexit has been chaotic from the beginning, and is now beyond shambolic.

Theresa May, a hack politician if ever there was one, is hopelessly out of her depth in dealing either with her own viciously divided party or the brutally uncompromising eurocrats in Brussels. She has now been ruthlessly humiliated by Trump as well.

Trump’s performance at the Nato summit confirmed that the failure of May’s compromise over Brexit is rooted in the growing antagonisms between the imperialist powers.

The Hard Brexit faction in conjunction with Trump wants a complete divorce from the EU, motivated by the absurd and futile fantasy of regaining a lost imperial greatness, and, in a more sinister way, the fuller implementation of an even more vicious neoliberalism freed from “the bureaucratic red tape” and “big government” of the already neoliberal EU.

The Brexit oddballs are hoping the Eurocrats force May to a total capitulation then any deal she makes will fall. This will make her defenestration all the easier.

The civil war in the Tory party over Brexit will inevitably see it split. However, the economic damage this will do can’t be overstated.

THE white paper is a mess, it will take a month of Sundays to get it through Westminster let alone the EU.

There is not a month of Sundays left between now and Brexit Day.

IS it any surprise Trump is criticising the PM for her latest version of Brexit, or saying that Nato should spend more? The USA business (and he is one of the businessmen that would be involved) will then be able to sell arms to them all, and his pal Boris would be in the Trump pocket and agree to deregulation of everything, so we would be eating food that harms us and have an American business-run health service that we couldn’t afford to be treated by.

Now we hear that in talks with Ms May (courtesy of an interview with, quelle surprise, a Murdoch “newspaper”) that he is regularly dismissive of our own FM. Again, no surprise, as she and any others (Merkel, Trudeau etc) that stand up and disagree with him are of no interest to him. He will continue to spread his own fake news (plain lies to suit his agenda) with every speech and the world media in general seem unwilling to question him face to face. No shock though, as the Scottish MSM are the same – anyone seen Ruth Davidson put her head above the parapet and do an in-depth interview since ... well, it feels like almost forever.

We need to get away from this before its too late. The people of Scotland are no fools and much more than 50 per cent will see the error of the 2014 referendum outcome. Though, let’s not be in any doubt, far too many homeborn Scots will remain subservient to their dying breath. Ask almost anyone who has chosen to move to Scotland to live (I have and continue to do so), as opposed to being brought up here, and they can’t believe we continue to be ruled, and ruined, by people who couldn’t care less about us.

I JUST finished reading your ignorant remarks about President Trump. Obviously you’ve been reading the leftist/globalist newspapers in the US who hate him. Get the facts before you print your uninformed, appalling criticisms of our president. Shame on you!

President Trump has NEVER said that all Mexican illegal aliens were rapists and murderers. He said that some of them are, which is true. I know, because I reside in southern California and I’ve seen first-hand the devastation and increase in crime caused by Mexican illegal immigrants.

In case you didn’t know, Mexico is a very dangerous country. A great deal of violence. So keep your ignorant libellous remarks to yourself and get the facts!!!!

(After reading your nasty editorial about President Trump, I will NEVER visit your mean-spirited little country!)
