SINCE the end of degree show at the Glasgow School of Art (GSA), a cacophony of emotions have riddled the last week. On Friday 15th, we graduated, we celebrated and we mourned.

I am finding solace looking at the annual photographs of students on the stairs of the Mack that are diffusing their way through social media; in monotone, capturing the idiosyncrasies of each student and defining their period of study. Pictured is the class of 2018, School of Design, in Garnethill Park – not on the stairs of The Mack. It’s one of many photographs in the school’s archive that represent Generation Disruption.

The beginning of our degree in 2014 was affected by fire and our graduation in 2018 was engulfed by the same element. These photographs are to be treasured. As the Mack is more than a building, these are more than images. They are symbolic of an ethos, a community and an energy that make GSA the undefinably special place that it has been, still is and will be for future generations.
