SCOTLAND will be receiving one third of the total number of Syrian refugees due to arrive in the UK before Christmas.We can take more. We have the space.
Those who come will find a warm welcome. They will be safe. They will be secure.
The Scottish Government, local authorities and others must make sure that we are ready.
We are caring and compassionate but we need to make sure the infrastructure, the housing, health services, language support, transport and social services are ready.

Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
