RETAILERS and shoppers are being urged to enter in the Great British High Street Awards.

The awards are run by The Future High Streets Forum, a group of businesses and government responsible for revitalising the nation’s high streets. It is looking to award the prestigious title of “Britain’s Best” to the streets and individuals that have made the biggest difference and contributed most to their communities.

The forum is supported by a range of high street businesses including Boots, Costa, Post Office, Argos and Marks and Spencer.

Winners will receive a share of a £80,000 prize as well as dedicated support, mentoring and marketing advice from industry experts.

The awards programme are calling for nominations for local high streets from both retailers and their customers.

Dougie Henderson, manager of Springburn Way Post Office in Glasgow said: “The Great British High Street Awards is a competition to showcase just what makes the nation’s high streets great places to visit, shop and socialise in the UK. We’d like to encourage people to nominate for their local high street whether that is in our town/city centre or one of the smaller ones.”

Nominations close on September 1. Visit thegreatbritishhighstreet.co.uk.
