HUNDREDS of school children are to get lessons on how to become the next generation of business tycoons in Lanarkshire, which has seen the rebirth of the Scottish steel industry .

UK Steel Enterprise (UKSE), was set up to boost economic regeneration in traditional steel-producing areas and it has awarded Entrepreneur Me £2,500 to teach 800 pupils in north and south Lanarkshire vital business skills.

The funds provided by UKSE have helped the organisation set up the Busy Bees project which sees children aged 10 and 11 create and manage a business.

With a loan of £8 per group and guidelines on designating job roles, budding entrepreneurs will manufacture and sell products and services such as cards and car washes.

This year, pupils at Glenmanor Primary School, Moodiesburn, will be using the funds to make Christmas gifts.
