SCOTTISH businesses are to support Galloway Country Fair again.
For the fifth consecutive year, new and used car dealership Border Cars will be the headline sponsor of Galloway Country Fair alongside a number of businesses as second tier sponsors.
The annual fair showcases the best of country pursuits, local craftsmanship, artisan food and drink and entertainment.
Border Cars offer the chance to get involved in the action with a 4x4 route across the Dumfriesshire countryside as well as being joined by superheroes to entertain youngsters.
Meanwhile the main arena – which will welcome a host of country fair favourites as well performances from horseback stunt team Les Amis D’Onno – is sponsored by AMD Contract Services.
Looking after the clay shooting area is Roxtons Field Sports and the anglers’ activities will be supported by Borderlines, while the dog competitions will be catered for by Forsa Energy.
The free children’s zone with Team Challenge activities and the food and craft tents, with hundreds of stalls to browse, each have sponsor support from Andritz Energy and Environmental and Duncan Plant respectively.
As always the fair will also be doing its bit for charity, helping to generate funds throughout the weekend.
The main charity partner for this year’s fair is West Sound Cash For Kids. It supports children up to the age of 16 across the Dumfries and Galloway area who are disabled, disadvantaged or suffering from abuse or neglect.
The charity is set to host a tent packed with activities and competitions for young people and all proceeds from programme sales will go directly to the charity alongside any cash donations made across the weekend.
Anna Fergusson, Drumlanrig Castle and Country Estate manager, said: “It’s great to have returning support from a number of sponsors this year, particularly Border Cars who we have been proud to partner with for five years.
“All of these businesses help to shape our popular fair weekend.
“They help us offer an action-packed line-up of entertainment and activities for everyone to enjoy.”
Galloway Country Fair takes place at Drumlanrig Castle and Country Estate on Saturday August 18, from 10am to 6pm and Sunday August 19, from 10am to 5pm.
Tickets are priced at £14 for adults, £5 for children aged under 16 years, £10 for concessions and £32 for a family pass (two adults and two children).
Under-fives go free.
A 10% discount will be applied to all tickets purchased before Saturday 30 June.
Tickets are now available, please contact info@drumlanrigcastle.co.uk.
The fair is expected to attract more than 15,000 visitors who are “interested in wildlife, rural pursuits and eco-friendly and energy efficient products and services”.
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
