A TIE-UP between social enterprise firm Brewgooder and Asda that has supplied clean drinking water to more than 5000 people in Malawi is celebrating its first anniversary.

The craft beer label, whose Clean Water Lager is sold in 375 Asda stores across the UK, donates 100 per cent of its profits to clean water charities.

Set up 18 months ago by Alan Mahon, one of the founders of Social Bite, Brewgooder was one of the first companies to take part in Asda’s Social Enterprise Supplier Academy, a UK first which launched last year in partnership with Social Investment Scotland (SIS). Funded through the proceeds from Asda’s carrier bag charge in Scotland, the Academy helped Brewgooder to secure its first national supermarket listing with the retailer.

Mahon said: “We’d like to say a massive thank you to Asda shoppers and colleagues, who have helped us to supply clean drinking water to more than 5000 people in Malawi, which is amazing.

“Every time Asda customers buy a Brewgooder beer they are helping to fund clean water drinking projects around the world.”
