A NEW show home at a housing development in Perth has been named after legendary St Johnstone footballer the late Willie Coburn.

Three generations of Coburn’s family gathered at Urban Union’s Muirton development to celebrate the move, after The Coburn was the overwhelming choice in a competition.

The 11 other house types have also been named after former St Johnstone players, the club’s old ground having been at Muirton Park.

Coburn, who is fifth in St Johnstone’s all-time appearance list, died of cancer at the age of 74 in 2015.

His widow, Jean, was among family members who visited the development, which is being delivered by Urban Union in partnership with Caledonia Housing Association and Fairfield Housing Co-operative.

Coburn’s daughter Lorraine said: “Dad used to say he’d love to have a street named after him. He’s now got a house in his honour and he’d be chuffed.”
