A SCOTLAND-BASED energy services company has won a series of contracts worth around $4 million (£3.06m) for its well severance, platform and floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) decommissioning services in the Asia Pacific region.

Proserv has been awarded the contracts by Premier Oil in Indonesia; Chevron, through Baker Hughes, in the Gulf of Thailand; BHP, through Fugro, in Western Australia and by PCPP Operating Company, through Sapura Technology Solutions, in Malaysia.

As part of the project, Proserv will provide abrasive cutting, cold cutting and dredging services using its wide portfolio of field-proven products and technologies.

The company will also develop custom tooling solutions, which is core to Proserv’s expertise, to support client engineering and the challenges they face in decommissioning operations.

These contract awards build upon previous successes in the decommissioning field for the company globally in recent months, with around $12m (£9.2m) worth of work secured in Asia Pacific, the UK, Scandinavia and the Gulf of Mexico.

Mathieu Al Kharfan, Proserv’s regional president for Asia Pacific, said: “We are delighted to have secured these awards which builds on our 40 year track record in this sector and reinforces the quality and reliability of our products and services.

“These recent wins are also a sign of our growing reputation as a decommissioning services partner in the region, providing clients with the most reliable and efficient technology solutions, delivered at the lowest cost, with no compromise on best-in-class HSE performance.”

The contracts come at a time of strong investment and development for Proserv, with the company currently investing more than $2m (£1.5m) to develop two new multi-string cutting (MSC) systems for well severance campaigns, to meet market demand.

Proserv is a technology-driven company providing products, services and bespoke solutions to clients across the drilling, production and decommissioning market sectors.

It functions worldwide through 22 operating centres based in 12 countries, and has won a string of industry awards over the years in recognition of its achievements.

As well as operating worldwide, Proserv has centres in Aberdeen, Coatbridge and Great Yarmouth, where work started last week on construction of a new £7.7m facility at the resort town’s Beacon Park, to house its 190 staff there.

It has been named Artemis House, and comprises 65,000sq ft of modern office and production space, making it one of the largest commercial buildings ever constructed in the town.

Simon Harvey, head of operations at Proserv, said: “This is a significant milestone in the development of our new facility which will serve as a global hub and centre of excellence for our subsea communication and controls activities.”
