SCOTTISH tattie farmer Alexander Wilson’s family celebrate 130 years of growing his delicious new potatoes.

The 37-year-old was welcomed by Tesco’s Russell Houston as he delivered his spuds to customers in store. The link-up shows the supermarket’s commitment to local family businesses and to providing customers with good quality Scottish produce.

Wilson’s great grandfather Thomas signed the lease on Low Boydston Farm, near Ardrossan, Ayrshire, in 1887. Wilson now runs the business with mum Irene and dad Sandy.

Wilson said: “The warm air and sandy soil of Low Boydston farm has allowed generations of our family to grow early Ayrshire new potatoes. Today they are an iconic seasonal favourite.”
