ONE of Scotland’s major food festivals opens this weekend with the launch of a new booze-filled adults-only ice cream.

Crail Food Festival, which runs from June 10 – 11 in six venues across the picturesque village in the East Neuk of Fife, will host a new gin ice cream, created by iconic St Andrews ice cream makers, Jannettas Gelateria.

Owen Hazel, of Jannettas, came up with the new flavour by combining his trademark Italian gelato with Edinburgh Gin’s latest release – plum and vanilla liqueur.

This will be the festival’s seventh year with a host of local flavours, tastings, children’s activities, the opportunity to meet the makers and the now famous, Sunday Lunch at the Harbour. There will also be a full programme of entertainment.
