LOCH Duart, a salmon farming business in North West Scotland, has received the prize for Foodservice Product of the Year at the Scotland Food and Drink Excellence Awards.

The award was presented to Simon Maguire, Loch Duart’s finance director, at a ceremony held in the Edinburgh International Conference Centre.

Businesses and individuals in Scotland who are leading the way with innovation, enterprise and quality were recognised and celebrated at the event.

It was Loch Duart’s salmon which was acknowledged, credited for the unique suite of practices behind it, focusing on low density farming, sustainability, environmental stewardship and fish welfare.

Loch Duart’s managing director, Alban Denton, said: “We’re really thrilled to get this award.

“Our staff work at sea in all weathers to bring our salmon to the market and the fine taste of them is what brings people back to eat them again and again.

“This award is an endorsement of the quality of our salmon, its continued impact in the hotel and restaurant trade, and a real boost to the team.”
