WHISKY maker Edrington is to close its Perth office as it moves to a new Glasgow headquarters.

The company, which makes The Macallan, Famous Grouse and Cutty Sark brands amongst others, will bring all office functions together at a new single facility by early next year.

The move will see the closure of the existing Great Western Road site in Glasgow and offices in West Kinfauns, Perth.

Chief executive Ian Curle said the change is designed to aid competitiveness and long-term growth and efforts will be made to retain affected staff.

However, 13 redundancies are expected and a consultation with affected workers will now be held.

Curle said: “Glasgow is where it all started for our founders William Robertson and John Baxter in 1861.

“Bringing together our essential HQ functions in a new central Glasgow location will help us to continue to compete successfully in a tough global market and to capitalise on what we see as positive long-term prospects for the industry.”

Edrington, which employs 3,000 people, is the largest Scotch whisky company to remain headquartered in Scotland.

The move will bring together its executive board, business units, finance, legal, corporate affairs, human resources and global operations leadership teams.

The new headquarters are expected to accommodate about

130 staff and the firm’s other six sites will be unaffected.
