A WOMAN has died at a music festival in Skye.

Police were called shortly before midnight on Saturday, May 11 to Skye Live festival in Portree after a woman became unwell.

Emergency services attended the scene at the Am Meall peninsula and the woman was pronounced dead.

Officers said enquiries are ongoing but there are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Around 11.55pm on Saturday, May 11, we were called to a report of a woman unwell at an event in Portree.

“Police and ambulance attended however the woman was pronounced dead. Enquiries continue however there are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.

“A report will be forward to the Procurator Fiscal.”

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received a call at 23:50 hours on Saturday 11 May to attend an incident in Portree, Skye. We dispatched one ambulance to the scene.”
